I loved working as a nurse practitioner for a bit outside the insurance system. My favorite example was providing care to a weaver. She wove me a basket in exchange. Another person was a potter and they made me a mug. Most paid cash yes, but I loved operating in a space where trading goods and services outside of a cash economy was still possible in the 21st century united(?) states
