This visualization showcases Earth's ocean currents in motion. Currents up to 600m deep appear in white, while deeper currents are shaded in blue. Created using satellite data, sensor-equipped buoys, and in-situ measurements, it represents data from 2021-2023.
The animation first reveals global currents before zooming in on three major ones: the Kuroshio Current, the Cape Agulhas Current, and, of course, the powerful Gulf Stream.
