I don’t understand how it can possibly mean that though? Because religion and gov are commonly tied together that’s why religious orgs are tax exempt where I live for example (USA) and in Europe religious taxes posed by governments are p normal like “church tax” in Germany I mentioned earlier. So I do not get it. Especially when you factor in the plethora of religions that don’t have churches at all and religions that venerate political figures like Freemasons tend to go nuts for Benjamin Franklin

I'm the US church are tax exempt because the law doesn't apply to them, not because it does. the law applied to everything except the exempt things. the establishments clause is the reason, in the case of the church remember also, this hasn't always been true. there didn't used to be these taxes read the 501c www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/26/501
