Good news, everyone: I have successfully replaced my voicemail with an LLM-powered voice chatbot which has been instructed to (1) act like I'm in the middle of some practical & noisy task, (2) have trouble hearing the caller, and (3) try to get the caller to text me instead, ideally via Signal. Hopefully, this will free me from the need to answer the phone ever again, or even listen to voicemail messages. And all it took was being willing to fire up three (3) coal-fired power plants whenever the robot answers the phone!
