Greasy Peacock Good decision on the veto. Terrible logic on the decision. Which is no surprise to anyone who's followed this meatsack's career to the present day. DeWine's gone with the 'parental rights' aspect of the debate over human rights, which states that parents have full autonomy over any minors in their care regardless of if the state has an active interest, such as for the protection of the kids in medical circumstances. The legislation was a steaming pile of garbage, but the rationale behind DeWine's decision has opened the doors to a lot of other transphobic -- and child-endangering -- legislation which may not have been read as feasible up until now.

Ripe Earthworm The parental rights argument has been a part of every single legal fight to strike down these laws, and has been agreed to by most of the judges to hear the cases. So, while I prefer the equal protection arguments as well, he's in absolutely no way breaking new ground here.
