Perfect Fowl Homeless Booby Delicious Crow Friendly Goat "No, the event horizon is an objective feature of the world." I'm not sure of that. I don't see spacetime as a fixed fabric that exists independent of any coordinate frame. A free falling observer is in an accelerating frame, so their perception of the horizon may be distorted. In the two falling astronauts thought experiment, I don't see how it could work with a fixed horizon. Let me restate: Alice and Bob are free falling in a straight line directly towards the center of a black hole, one after another. In Bob's frame, he sees her point of contact with the horizon in front of him. He sees Alice reaching this point at the same time as he's reaching his point of contact. So, in his frame, these 3-d points of contacts must be different. Where am I mistaken?
