So true and it's funny cuz the longest running web serial from that community (it got spun off into an actual Amazon novel iirc) is an actual human-alien romance where the alien girl is fluffy like a foxgirl but her fur changes color like a chameleon to signal emotions and the premise was that she was in a university grad school exchange program trying to learn about whether humans have emotions, because humans don't change color the way her species does.
