Eagle Cap Wilderness: Day 2
This was my most insane day of backpacking. 26 miles over 17(!) hours and 5700 feet of gain. I met a guy Isaac in the lakes basin who was also going to attempt Eagle Cap. Thankfully, he had more experience than me. There were some sketchy parts but we made it fine. We descended down steep granite scree and then glissaded down a couple snowy slopes. Next, we went over Glacier Pass. Very fun!

Eagle Cap Wilderness: Day 3
Began the day by fording a swift river for the first time. Exhilarating! Then headed up Polaris Pass. What started as a beautiful climb through Lupine and other wildflowers turned into steep scree with about 4 inches of footing in places. Didn’t love that. Was very relieved to make it to the top. Slipped descending some melty snow on the backside of the pass but recovered. Lessons learned!
