People started posting on Threads a year ago and declared it a nice place to have a conversation. But they were wrong, and will always be wrong, because no social network can ever fix the problem of context collapse. Thousands of people will read what I write, and they will all interpret it their own way, with little context for who I am or what I’m expressing. Quickly distributed thoughts are not written culture, they are a form of very lossy oral culture. (See: link in next post.)
