:ihavenomouth: unironically I trust your opinion a lot more than others
I would still like a distro to have guard rails though because I am not an OS tinkerer.
Like how "your fault" are we talking? "You intentionally fucked with the internal coreutils and aliased things you shouldn't have" or "you didn't read the update notes and didn't pass in a special flag to pacman on this specific date"

Fe₂🦀₃⋅H₂🦀 :ihavenomouth: There a basically no guard rails. Pacman lets you happily disregard dependencies when uninstalling packages (if you tell it to). What you tell the utils to do, they will do it, without hesitation. It doesn't hold your hand.
The distro itself basically does not break and the last actual breakage I had was the GRUB invalid config one from 2(?) years ago. What most people would probably constitute as a "breakage" is usually a manual intervention required for an update, which are almost always documented in the news on the main page. What might happen is that after install, your install might be unbootable, because the initramfs is missing modules (usually thanks to SATA controllers being in RAID mode), or your audio devices won't show up (usually a case of missing firmare - sof-firmware).
Basically think of it as an easier version of Gentoo mostly without compiling and with very good documentation in the wiki.
