All, a quick request for some feedback:
Recently I acquired some classroom desktop computers that are no longer needed, and would never be capable of running Windows 11. They're HP computers, mostly, with 125GB SSDs. They seem ideal for self hosting a personal server, and I have been successful getting #StartOS working on one of them after a RAM upgrade to 16GB, to future-proof it for the bitcoin stack. Obviously a larger SSD would be desirable but that's an easy upgrade if it's wanted.
What do you think someone would be willing to pay for such a device?

With 16gb ram and a basic 2tb SATA ssd, people might give you $200-250 for them, maybe. Marketing then as Bitcoin nodes and offering to help get them set up with a little bit of your time would likely earn you your profit margin, rather than the hardware itself.

Good to know! Very good idea, Iβm certainly willing to spend some time with the onboarding. That amount seems higher than what I was expecting with this level hardware, but with the setup process, that makes sens.

Yeah, I just pass the hw cost along at cost & charge for my time. Much easier to be transparent about pricing & intention.
Hey nostr, I have some nodes to sell!
Not only could you get some solid hardware (even Start9 started selling some of these), but you also get my time & expertise. Weβll figure out how you need me to spend my time to help you - I am looking to be a resource to plebs trying to navigate migrating away fro#chibitdevs included. Until I offload this hardware and complete the hourlies, Iβll be restricting my assistance to these buyers. But, I'll likely eventually offer support for byo hw/sw.
