People seem to like tokens. I was into airline miles for a long time. when I was 10 I cut out the American Airlines 100 mile voucher off the Cheerios box (so fiat) and sent it in for a chance to win a trip to San Francisco. The rest of the Cheerios box had cartoons of cable cars going up narrow streets and the Golden Gate bridge in the background. I was sure I as going to win. I still have the AA account. Thankfully satoshis fullfills my airline miles itch. I have zero interest in hotel points. I think it's just the promise of travel attached to airline miles that makes them psychologically worth more to me. I also like the Amtrak miles. I'm not sure how any of this is related to Bitcoin, unless they are basically saying it's ok to build protocols that interchange these loyalty tokens between people. Maybe like Nostr Relays, these things could trade points collateralized by satoshis in the background. Don't know how much economic benefit that is tho.
