Bought a new knife/chisel thing from a woodworker I like a lot. It's a new product, so they're doing the initial production run in two batches. Because they didn't know how big the interest would be and didn't want to take a bath on inventory.
All of the above is reasonable and acceptable. I've worked in retail before, even for a manufacturing retailer. But the net result is that my knife could get here in two weeks or three months, and that time frame is making my butt itch.
