This is the bit that really boggles my mind about the Wayland refusers. I've talked to multiple people who are convinced Wayland is technically inferior and horrendously buggy (either through hearsay, or because of Nvidia's trash proprietary drivers) and this is because the Wayland devs are simply bad at programming, whereas the X.org devs are obviously much better. It really is the Qanon of lunix reactionaries.
