Perfect Fowl I found this popular press article by Ethan Siegel claiming that Wiltshire’s idea cannot be correct. I’m of course not sufficiently expert to judge the refutation but the tone was a tad contemptuous it seemed to me. bigthink.com/starts-with-a-bang/lumpy-explain-dark-energy
Many Hoverfly - Calm Panda, aka Ethan Siegel, knows his stuff, and he's one of my favorite people here when it comes to explaining cosmology. Physicists are often contemptuous of people who make bold claims that don't hold up - they're not an extremely polite bunch - so it doesn't pay to discount what Siegel says just because of his tone. Actual ad hominem arguments, on the other hand, often indicate a lack of good arguments. Here's another criticism of Wiltshire's so-called "timescape cosmology": medium.com/global-science-news/evaluating-the-extraordinary-claim-of-timescape-cosmology-superseding-the-standard-cosmological-513cd5ff6f4f
