- Untreated cedar is great, we used 1 inch thick first go around and they last 8 years, 2 inches you maybe can push to 20 years but they are expensive - if you can minimize ground and dirt contact they last longer - metal mending braces are good to make them line up - think about self watering, I like a company called rainbird This video is great
