@bumi Why am I getting this message? I already have my account linked to my Alby Hub. I was able to make the message go away by transferring the shared balance into my Hub. Unfortunately, there's still feeds that reference my old wallet rather than my Alby Hub.

you have sats on the shared node and must move those. (but I see that the error message in your case is not fully correct.) and at some point those old feeds will stop working.

I know I have a lot to learn. I still find it deceptive marketing to say “free” when the core feature requires payment in one form or the other. If people are coming for the lightning hub, then it is definitionally not free from what I’m seeing.

it’s not a payment if you put sats in a channel. it’s your sats. - I think you have a misunderstanding there. if you want to get incoming liquidity then you can buy it from one of the LSPs. This is the default flow because it’s the easiest and most reliable and most people want it. but I understan

Alby and THIS is what I mean by the “free” on this app. Anything I’m missing then? Because I’m not seeing any way around being forced to drop sats to rent a lightning address for 3 months. #sats #satoshi #alby #monetization

you need to learn a bit about channels and how they work. check the guides. if you open a channel with onchain sats then this is an outgoing channel, it’s your sats - you will end up with outgoing capacity and no incoming capacity (until you sent some sats out) opening a channel form an LSP give

I see that Alby has a guide on doing that guides.getalby.com/user-guide/alby-account/customize-your-lightning-address/use-your-own-domain-as-lightning-address but in the WordPress plugin you’re doing fully proxying instead.

Alby nails Lightning Network integration, making microtransactions smooth and self-custody accessible with a clean interface. Their browser extension is handy for quick payments. But they could improve on UX for newbies—it's still clunky. Also, more robust backup options for keys would be a big win.
