This is what #decentralization looks like.
Three #solar powered #meshtastic nodes and four more in the works. As long as one of them is up, it'll relay encrypted messages for people. A little soldering, a little 3D printing and about $250 in parts to build one. Now that the CAD work has been done, each one only takes about 2 hours to put together. (not counting print time) Parts list and instructions are coming soon. #decentralize everything

I want this so badly
Do you give courses? I'd pay to learn how to do this.
I'm working on putting together something for my local Makerspace.
I miss #Firechat. It saved the Occupy movement's bacon many times a decade and a half ago
Aren't there any plug and play mesh devices that any pleb can plug on their Umbrel ☂️ Start9 server in order to quickly bootstrap a dense enough mesh network for "offline txs" ?
You can buy commercially built solar nodes to get a mesh network. As for "offline txs", and I'm guessing you're talking about bitcoin transactions here, I'm not aware of anything off the shelf that will do that. Surely someone has hacked something together at some point that will do this, and if... show more
Well done. Who needs big tech when you can build your own network 🔧
Thats badass! I built a few myself… trying to dial them in
I'd be happy to trade notes. I'm getting about 1 km in urban areas and at least 3 km in more rural areas. I'm concerned that the current sensing might be a drain on the batteries when there's no power coming in. It'll take more testing to determine that for sure. It takes a while to make a dent in... show more
