This was an interesting soil profile.

It's in a yard on an upland summit. The topsoil (Ap horizon) was hauled in at some point in the past. Below that was a layer of creek gravel probably spread for an old parking area.
The original topsoil is below that, which makes it a buried A horizon (Ab).

Today, we're hauling some scrap metal from behind this abandoned farm house.

Car is still parked in the garage.

The inside is pretty rough. Some of these old houses have potential to clean out and fix up, but this one looks to be beyond repair.

Hauling some mulch.

Here's my unsolicited advice for today: Careers are no longer necessary. Develop some skills. Maybe acquire some equipment. Start hustling. Stack sats.

Memorial Day was very rainy this year. We fished a while anyway and the kids played in the rain. But I didn't get any pictures in the downpour. Weather is nice today, and I've returned to the pond for the evening.

These are the "after" pics I teased the other day.

So instead of cooking supper in the kitchen, I cooked supper on the Coleman propane stove.

Got 2 ounces of Longbottom Leaf to refill the jar I keep on hand.
I also got a tin of Capstan blue to try, but I don't plan on smoking it any time soon. It will #pipestr #grownostr

My latest project: leather haversack

I have found that to get the gear you really want, you often have to make it yourself.
Oil tanned leather, saddle stitched by hand, hand peened solid brass rivets, eyelets and paracord for external attachment of knife and mesh radio
