Could we say that holding USDt would be safer than leaving it in the bank, since Tether does not use fractional reserves (it has 100% of its reserves in US treasury)?

Sounds cool, but who’s responsible for locking the ecash? If it’s the mint, then the payee needs to know ahead of time that they’ll need the tokens offline and who they’re going to pay.

As far as I know, if you’re an off-line receiver, you can’t check if the ecash have been redeemed, so it requires a certain level of trust.
